15 Tips To Getting Long, Healthy, Barbie-like Hair

Tip #15
Try natural hair-dyes
There are natural options for hair dyeing. Henna has been used to dye hair for thousands of years in India. But you don’t have to travel to Asia nowadays! You can find henna kits (and other natural options) on Amazon or Drugstore.com

Tip #14
Exercise
Keeping your body healthy is also a great way to improve the strength of your hair. Try to workout at least three times a week. Yoga is a great option because it also reduces stress, which can weaken your hair!

Tip #13
Deep Condition Once a Week
Deep conditioning will make your hair soft and shiny. It will also improve the quality of your hair over time! I like to use "Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk - Instant Repair Treatment".

Tip #12
Take Vitamins
Vitamin A will condition and moisturize your hair with antioxidants. It will also help your hair battle free radicals like pollution. Overall, taking vitamin A daily will make your hair stronger and thicker. I've been using "Hair, Skin & Nails - tablets.

Tip #11
Braid Your Hair When It's Wet
Braids are a fun summer style! Add a little leave-in conditioner before plaiting your hair to lock in moisture all day. Don’t forget to tie your style with a metal-free ponytail holder.

Tip #10
Eat Hair-Healthy Foods
Some foods that will strengthen hair are dark green vegetables, nuts, and salmon. Overall, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will make your locks shiny and full of bounce!

Tip #9
Don't Wear Ponytails & Buns To Bed
Ponytail holders and scrunchies can damage your hair when you sleep. When getting ready for bed, free your tresses! If it’s hot or your hair gets tangled in the night, you can put hair in a loose braid, tied with a strip cut from knee-high stockings. Or wrap it around in a cirlce and cover your hair with a silk head scarf.

Tip #8
Get a Trim Every Six to Eight Weeks
Even if you are trying to grow out your locks, regular haircuts will keep your ends healthy! In fact, getting trims every six to eight weeks should actually make your hair grow faster and stronger.

Tip #7
Protect Your Hair From Sun Damage
When spending the day on the beach, it’s important to protect your hair. Try spraying on Aveda’s Sun Care Protective Hair Veil before soaking up some sun. This will protect your color and prevent UV damage!

Tip #6
Don't Rub Wet Hair With Your Towel
After you shower, don’t rub your hair back and forth with a towel. Instead, squeeze excess water out, moving the towel down the hair shaft. Squeezing from roots to ends will prevent breakage and keep your hair healthy.

Tip #5
Use a Wide Toothed Comb On Wet Hair
Your hair is most fragile when it is wet. Avoid brushing wet hair. Use a wide-toothed comb to untangle knots, and brush your hair when it is mostly dry. Goody has some great combs for wet hair!

Tip #4
Protect Your Hair Before Heat Styling
If you are going to blow-dry, flat-iron, or curl your hair, remember to prep with a good product. This will protect your locks from styling damage!

Tip #3
Air Dry Your Hair
Whenever possible, let your tresses air dry. This will encourage natural curls and waves as well as reduce fly-a-ways and frizz in straight hair. It will also give you an excuse to treat yourself while you are waiting!

Tip #2
Consider Going Dark
If you dye your hair a color that is lighter than your natural color, the bleaching process can severely damage your hair! Consider a darker shade. If you have naturally dark hair, try overdying another color (like red) - but not bleaching - to give your hair a glow in the sun!

Tip #1
  Try Organic Products
Chemicals such as sulfates and parabens can dry out and damage your hair! There are organic products in every price range. Using organic shampoos, conditioners, and styling products will improve the health of your hair and scalp. "Olive Oil - Organic Root Stimulator" hair care products are my absolute favorite!
