Primped & Pampered

Tutorial Tuesday
Treat Yourself to an At-Home Facial

Facial treatments are one of the best ways you can pamper yourself and your skin. You don't have to spend a lot of money to give yourself a great facial treatment at home, and it will give you a chance to take some time and pamper yourself properly. Allow yourself one day a week to properly pamper yourself and your skin will thank you for it. You can give yourself an at-home facial in four easy steps.

Step One
Remove Makeup

Remove all traces of makeup including waterproof mascara with cleansing towelettes.

I use "Neotrogena: Pre-Moistened Makeup Remover". You can get these at any local Walgreens or CVS drug store for $4.97

When removing your makeup, use an upward motion starting at your neck up to your forehead.
This prevents future sagging and pre-mature wrenkles.

When removing mascara, never rub! Use an upward motion; kinda the same way you would apply your mascara.
Rubbing will cause your lashes to break off.

Step Two
Cleanse

Start your facial with a good cleansing. Use a product that is made just for your skin type, whether it's normal, oily, dry, or combination.

I use "Neutrogena: Oil-Free Acne Wash" cream cleanser for combination skin. You can get this at your local Walgreens or CVS drug store for $6.49

With an uplifting blast of grapefruit plus vitamin C, Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Cream Cleanser is a rich, creamy lather that powerfully clears blemishes and blackheads. Eliminate oil and dirt without over-drying or irritating skin. Formulated with MicroClear®, a patented technology proven to cut through oil quickly to speed acne medicine straight to the source of breakouts.

Wet face with water, then apply a small amount in your hand. Starting at your neck, use small circular motions and work your way upward to your forehead. Rinse.

Step Three
Exfoliate

Once you have a good clean palette, you'll want to exfoliate your skin to remove excess oil, surface dirt, and skin cells and give your face a soft complexion.

I use "Neutrogena: Foaming scrub" for $6.49

I have a combination of normal to dry skin so this comes in handy - but I only exfoliate once a week to prevent over-drying of my skin.

Use the same upward, circular motion as you did with the cleanser. From your neck to your forehead. Rinse and towel blot to dry your face.

Step Four
Moisturize

Once you've cleansed and exfoliated your face, the final step in your "Primped & Pampered" at-home facial is to moisturize.

I use "Neutrogena: Intensified Daily Moisture" with SPF 15. You can buy this at any Walgreens or CVS drug store for $13.39

After towel blotting your face, appy a small amount of moisturizer to your finger tips. Starting at the neck, massage in cream using the same upward motion.

Make sure not to rub around your eyes. Instead, use a circular tapping motion around your them with your fingertips.

Now that you have the steps needed for a "Primped & Pampered" at-home facial, you can pick your day, turn on some relaxing music, then after a long bubble bath, you can throw on your PINK comfy robe, your fuzzy slippers, and enjoy your facial treatment.
